A British tourist, identified as Antony Maxwell, tragically lost his life after plunging five floors from his hotel balcony in the Turkish resort city of Antalya. Maxwell, a 21-year-old crane operator from Maldon, Essex, was enjoying a holiday with his 33-year-old girlfriend when the incident occurred.
Emergency responders were swiftly dispatched to the scene and transported the critically injured Maxwell to the hospital. Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries on April 18th. Maxwell’s family, deeply saddened by the news, has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to facilitate the repatriation of his remains to the United Kingdom.
A Foreign Office (FCDO) spokesperson confirmed that they are providing assistance to the family of the deceased British citizen. Maxwell’s passing comes just days after another British holidaymaker lost their life in a separate incident in Turkey. A 73-year-old man swimming off the coast of Marmaris is believed to have suffered a heart attack, leading to his untimely demise.
