The Charlotte Hornets are searching for a new head coach after Steve Clifford’s second stint with the team ended. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Hornets are planning to interview JJ Redick for the position.
Redick, a 15-year NBA veteran and former Duke star, has shown interest in making the transition to coaching in recent years. He has reportedly been offered assistant and head coaching jobs in the past, including an offer from the Boston Celtics in 2022 and the Toronto Raptors in 2023.
Redick, who played his college basketball at Duke, has no NBA coaching experience. He retired in 2021 after a successful 15-year career that included stops in Orlando, Milwaukee, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, New Orleans, and Dallas.
The Hornets are expected to meet with Redick to discuss the head coaching position in the near future.
