In light of the escalating mercury levels, District Magistrate Surya Pal Gangwar has issued a directive to all private and government hospitals in Lucknow to prioritize fire safety by conducting comprehensive fire audits. This proactive measure is designed to mitigate the risk of hospital fires during the summer months and ensure hospitals are well-equipped to respond swiftly and effectively to any such incidents.
The DM emphasized the crucial need for preventive measures to avert untoward incidents and bolster preparedness for prompt and efficient intervention if a fire occurs. The directive calls for all healthcare facilities, including primary and community health centers, to thoroughly inspect their premises, rectify any discrepancies in electrical load capacity, and obtain the requisite clearances.
To ensure optimal functioning of fire-fighting systems, the DM has instructed hospitals to verify their full operational status. Additionally, he has emphasized that hospitals exceeding their allocated electricity load capacity must take prompt action to upgrade their load in accordance with established regulations.
Recognizing the significance of collaboration, the DM has established a task force comprising the Chief Medical Officer, Electrical Safety Officer (LESA), and Chief Fire Officers of hospitals to oversee the execution of these safety measures.
