Expelled Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader KS Eshwarappa announced his decision to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha election as a non-party candidate. He expressed confidence in his victory and stated that he would return to the BJP afterward. This decision comes after his expulsion from the party for his intention to run as an independent candidate from Karnataka.
Eshwarappa targeted BS Yediyurappa and his son for denying his son the ticket to contest from Haveri. He had also been critical of the leadership of Yediyurappa and his family in Karnataka BJP.
Eshwarappa’s expulsion was based on the grounds of violating party discipline by contesting as a rebel candidate and embarrassing the party. He has stated that he is not against the BJP or Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
