President Droupadi Murmu honored veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty and acclaimed singer Usha Uthup with the Padma Bhushan awards at a ceremony held in Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.
Mithun Chakraborty, celebrated for his exceptional performances in Bengali and Hindi cinema, received the award for his contributions to the field of Arts. His illustrious career spans decades, with notable films including ‘Mrigayaa,’ ‘Disco Dancer,’ and ‘Agneepath.’
Usha Uthup, known for her distinctive voice and pioneering role in Indian jazz during the 1970s, was also recognized for her artistic excellence.
Expressing his gratitude, Mithun Chakraborty stated, ‘I am overjoyed and humbled by this recognition. It is a testament to the love and support I have received throughout my career.’
Other notable recipients of the Padma Bhushan include Pyarelal Sharma, of the iconic music duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal.
