Ten Killed in Mid-Air Helicopter Collision During Malaysian Navy Parade Rehearsal

A mid-air collision between two helicopters during a rehearsal for Malaysia’s Royal Navy’s 90th-anniversary parade resulted in the tragic demise of all 10 individuals on board.

Published footage depicts one chopper clipping the rotor of the other, causing both to plummet to the ground. The incident took place at 9:30 AM in Lumut, Perak, involving seven people in one helicopter and three in the other.

The Royal Malaysian Navy confirmed the fatalities and assured a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident. Defense Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin revealed that the deceased crew members were under 40 years of age.

This tragic event comes shortly after a Malaysian coast guard chopper crashed into the sea off Angsa Island, with successful rescues of the pilot, co-pilot, and two passengers by fishermen.
