Bay Area Softball Roundup: Overfelt Royals Crush James Lick, SRV Stays Hot

In Blossom Valley Athletic League West Valley Division action, Overfelt High School’s dynamic duo, Daijaah Jones and Mya Eti, led their team to a five-inning mercy-rule victory against James Lick. Jones’ impressive performance included six hits, eight RBIs, five runs, a home run, double, and two triples. Eti was equally impressive with four hits, two home runs, seven RBIs, and six runs. Senior Cynthia Arellano also contributed significantly with five hits, four RBIs, and six runs. Overfelt’s offensive explosion resulted in 13 runs in the first inning and 11 in the second, propelling them to victory and improving their league record to 10-2.

San Ramon Valley (SRV) continued their winning ways in non-league play, defeating visiting Washington by mercy rule. Brianna Schapiro, Sophia Jin, and Gianna Baccei each drove in three runs for SRV, while freshmen Lila Mcleod and Isla Higgins combined for the one-hit shutout.

In a Diablo Athletic League Valley Division game, Berean Christian defeated Las Lomas. Jacqueline Sanchez, Madison Seuis, Alissa Jones, Le Ana Cimarra, Emmalyn Decarlo, and Sierra Talbot all had two hits for Berean Christian, who improved their league record to 4-3.

Burlingame turned their Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division game against Sequoia into a rout, scoring seven runs in the top half of the sixth inning. Kasey Lyons and Lily Grenier led the Panthers’ offense with two hits and an RBI each.

Sophia Delgado’s four hits, including two doubles, and Kaelyn Cunanan’s three hits helped Milpitas secure a victory over Los Altos in Santa Clara Valley Athletic League De Anza Division play.

In non-league action, Lincoln crushed Mt. Pleasant behind Diego Casorla’s three hits and four RBIs and Ryan Rogers’ two hits and two RBIs. Terra Nova overcame a three-run deficit with a six-run rally in the top of the seventh inning to defeat Sequoia.

Luke Claussen’s three hits, four RBIs, and two runs scored and Brad Ballard’s home run propelled Monte Vista past Berkeley in a non-league contest.

California scored five unanswered runs in the final two innings to secure a non-league victory over Antioch. Logan Kellogg, Ben Johnson, and Angelo Sherman led the Grizzlies’ offense with multiple hits, while Angelo Nunes had four hits for Antioch.

Mt. Eden rallied from a two-run deficit to defeat Mission San Jose, who remained winless on the season. Hector Dueñas and Javier Alfaro III each drove in two runs for Mt. Eden.
