Sadiya Siddiqui, who rose to fame for her performance in the classic film ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa,’ recently visited Lucknow for the International Children’s Film Festival. During her visit, she expressed her openness to working on OTT platforms but questioned why she hasn’t been approached.
Despite her experience and talent, Siddiqui has not yet secured any OTT projects. She believes that there are a variety of factors that could be contributing to this, including the lack of diverse storytelling and the tendency to cast popular film stars or newcomers in OTT shows.
Siddiqui acknowledges that the television industry provides more opportunities for female actors, but she remains hopeful that the OTT space will become more inclusive. She emphasizes the need for continuous skill development and the importance of pursuing other creative outlets, such as writing.
Currently, Siddiqui is in talks for a new television show. She also has a role in the upcoming feature film ‘Everybody Loves Sohrab Handa,’ directed by Rajat Kapoor. While she enjoys working in television, she eagerly anticipates the opportunity to showcase her abilities on OTT platforms.
Siddiqui’s experience highlights the ongoing challenges faced by female actors in the entertainment industry. Despite her proven talent, she continues to face barriers in accessing certain roles and platforms. Her story serves as a reminder of the need for greater diversity and inclusivity in the film and television industries.
