A new T10 tournament, the Guyana T10 Blast, will commence on April 23rd and continue until May 12th. This six-team tournament will be played at the Enmore Ground, East Coast Demerara, with matches scheduled for Saturdays and doubleheaders on other days. The teams participating include the Essequibo Jaguars, Demerera Pitbulls, Berbice Caimans, Berbice Piranhas, Essequibo Anacondas, and Demerera Hawks. Each team will play each other twice in the league stage, followed by semi-finals and a final match. To provide opportunities for young players, teams are required to field at least two U-19 players in their starting lineup.
The inaugural match will feature the Essequibo Jaguars facing off against the Demerara Hawks on the opening day. The Demerera Pitbulls, led by Tevin Imlach, will comprise several talented players, including Akshaya Persaud, a left-arm spinner, and Isai Thorne, who represented the West Indies at the U19 level.
In contrast, the Essequibo Jaguars, captained by Kemol Savory, boast experienced players such as Chandrapaul Hemraj, an ODI representative for the West Indies, and Ashmead Nedd, a former West Indies U-19 all-rounder. The team also includes young prospects Mavindra Dindyal, Zachary Jodah, and Kevin Kisten, who will be eager to showcase their skills.
With a mix of experienced and emerging players, the Guyana T10 Blast promises exciting cricket and opportunities for young talent to shine.
