Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has lambasted the Congress party, asserting that India will be governed by the Constitution drafted by Bhimrao Ambedkar, not by any Sharia law. Addressing a public gathering in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, Adityanath launched a veiled attack on the Congress, accusing it of failing to eradicate poverty despite its ‘Garibi Hatao’ slogan. He alleged that one family had looted the country’s resources during the Congress’s tenure.
Adityanath further criticized former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s statement that Muslims have the first right to the country’s resources, questioning the fate of Dalits, backward classes, poor, and farmers under such a policy. He condemned the Congress’s alleged alliance with the INDI alliance, accusing them of betraying the nation in the past and seeking to do so again. Adityanath emphasized that India will be governed by the Constitution, not by any Sharia law.
The Lok Sabha election 2024 in Uttar Pradesh is scheduled to take place in seven phases, from April 19 to June 1. The counting of votes will occur on June 4, and the results will be declared the same day. In the previous Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 303 seats, while the Congress, with only 52 seats, remained in the Opposition without enough members to qualify for the Leader of the Opposition role.
