Prince Louis’ First Day at Nursery: A Journey through the Years
The British public has witnessed the milestones of Prince Louis’ early life, including his first day at nursery. In 2021, on his third birthday, his proud parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton, shared a photo of him on his balance bike, ready for his first day at Willcocks Nursery School in South Kensington.
Little Louis followed in the footsteps of his sister Princess Charlotte, who had also attended Willcocks Nursery School. However, he started nursery later than both his siblings due to the Covid pandemic. Prince William and Kate, who were in lockdown at their Sandringham home for the first few months of the year, made the decision to enrol Louis at nursery in April instead of January, as was likely originally planned.
Prince George’s first day at nursery took place in January 2016. An adorable photo shared by his parents showed him all wrapped up in a navy quilted coat, with a backpack almost twice his size on his back. At the time, the family lived at Anmer Hall on the Sandringham Estate, and George attended the Westacre Montessori nursery. He stayed there for 18 months before the family moved back to London, and George was enrolled in reception at Thomas’ school in Battersea.
Princess Charlotte’s first day at nursery came almost two years to the day after her brother’s. Since the family had moved to Kensington Palace, Charlotte attended Willcocks Nursery School, which charged £3,400 per term for morning school and £2,250 per term for afternoon sessions. A photo taken by Kate showed a then-two-year-old Charlotte beaming in a little red coat and a pink scarf as she sat on some steps. She later joined her brother Prince George at Thomas’s School in Battersea in September 2019.
In 2022, the family relocated to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor Home Park. In September that year, all three Wales children started at Lambrook School in Berkshire together. It was also Prince Louis’s very first day at school. The siblings showed no obvious signs of nerves as they walked confidently into Lambrook in the sunshine holding their parents’ hands.
