In a recent interview, actress Zendaya discussed the challenges of playing a tennis player in her latest film, ‘Challengers.’ Zendaya admitted that she was nervous about playing the role, especially since she is a big fan of tennis superstar Serena Williams. She said, ‘I knew I had to do my research and really work hard to get the role right. I knew Serena would be watching!’ Zendaya’s hard work paid off, as Williams recently saw the film and praised her performance. Williams said, ‘I knew you didn’t use real tennis balls in (the shoot). She knew. She’s a pro’s pro.’ Zendaya was also delighted when Williams told her, ‘I doubt you never touched a tennis ball.’ Director Luca Guadagnino revealed that Zendaya trained for three months with former tennis player and coach Brad Gilbert before filming. Guadagnino said, ‘Zendaya was very dedicated to the role and really put in the work.’ ‘Challengers’ is a decades-long story about a former star player and two close-knit male tennis players who fall in love with her. Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist play the two male players. The film hits Japanese theaters on June 7th.
