Fire crews rushed to a street in Failsworth in the early hours of this morning after a car went up in flames. Firefighters were called to the scene of the blaze on Old Road at approximately 2.50am today (Tuesday). The blaze erupted while the car was parked in a car park, in close proximity to the Old Road Chippy. Crews utilized a hose reel to extinguish the flames and ensure the safety of the surrounding area.
Video footage captured at the scene depicted the car engulfed in flames as smoke billowed from the vehicle. The fire reportedly caused damage to several other parked cars. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) stated: “At shortly after 2.50am today (April 23) one fire engine from Phillips Park fire station attended a car on fire in a car park on Old Road, Failsworth. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus utilized one hose reel to extinguish the fire and ensure the safety of the surrounding area. Crews were in attendance for approximately half an hour.”
