Russian Forces Advance in Ukraine
Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu has reported significant progress in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, stating that Russian troops have gained control over several strategic locations in the Donetsk region. According to Shoigu, Moscow’s forces have liberated the villages of Pervomayskoe and Novomikhailovka, west and southwest of Donetsk, and the settlement of Bogdanovka near Artemovsk (known as Bakhmut in Ukraine).
Shoigu emphasized the expanding control zone in Berdychi and Georgievka, located north and west of Donetsk. He attributed the gains to Russia’s high combat potential, which allows for continuous strikes against Ukrainian forces and prevents them from maintaining defensive lines. The Russian minister estimated that Ukraine has suffered substantial losses, with half a million troops lost since the conflict’s onset.
Shoigu also lauded Russia’s defense industry, highlighting its repeated increases in output. He stated that this surge has significantly enhanced the combat capabilities of Russian armed forces, as evidenced by their battlefield successes. The conflict continues to unfold, with further developments expected in the coming days and weeks.
