Residents of Grandville and Wyoming are invited to join their respective cities in celebrating Arbor Day this Friday, April 29th. This year’s Arbor Day observances will feature tree planting ceremonies in both communities. Arbor Day is a nationally recognized holiday dedicated to the importance of trees and promoting their planting and preservation. It was first established as a national holiday in 1907 by President Theodore Roosevelt, who encouraged schoolchildren to engage in tree planting activities. In 1970, President Richard Nixon officially proclaimed National Arbor Day, which is now observed annually on the last Friday of April. The city of Grandville will hold its Arbor Day tree planting ceremony at 10:00 am at the Grandville Middle School, while Wyoming’s ceremony will take place at 1:00 pm at the Wyoming City Hall. Community members are encouraged to attend and participate in these events to show their support for the environment and the benefits that trees provide to our communities.
