Stacey Dooley to Make West End Debut in ‘2:22 A Ghost Story’
Presenter and documentary filmmaker Stacey Dooley is set to swap the screen for the stage, making her West End debut in the play ‘2:22 A Ghost Story.’ Dooley will portray Jenny in the production, joining a cast that includes former ‘Inbetweeners’ star James Buckley as Ben.
The play, written by Danny Robins and directed by Matthew Dunster, follows paranoid Jenny who believes her home is haunted. Her husband Sam is sceptical, and their debate continues as old friends Lauren and Ben join them for dinner. Tensions rise as their opinions clash, culminating in a hair-raising conclusion.
Dooley expressed her delight to join the cast, stating that she was captivated by the play when she saw it in 2022. She finds the characters relatable, which enhances the effectiveness of the subtle ‘ghost story’ elements. Buckley also expressed his excitement to return to the cast of ‘2:22 A Ghost Story,’ praising the play and the theatre. He aims to memorize his lines and looks forward to the experience.
The play is currently on tour, which concludes at Salford’s Lowry Theatre on June 15. The West End run will take place from May to August 4 at Gielgud Theatre. ‘2:22 A Ghost Story’ has previously featured notable stars such as Lily Allen, Giovanna Fletcher, Cheryl, and Frankie Bridge.
Dooley’s partner of almost five years, Strictly Come Dancing professional Kevin Clifton, shared his pride and support for her new venture, describing her as ‘amazing.’ The couple met on the BBC dance contest in 2018 and welcomed their first child, a daughter named Minnie, in January 2023.
