Tesla has officially revealed its new Model 3 Performance variant, an upgraded version of the recently refreshed Model 3 sedan. This new iteration boasts a range of improvements designed to enhance performance and comfort, along with increased efficiency. Priced starting at $52,990, the Model 3 Performance features an advanced active damping system and adaptive suspension, providing superior handling and a more comfortable ride. It also boasts a new-generation drive unit that generates 510 horsepower, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds. Compared to its predecessor, the Model 3 Performance offers 32% more peak power and 16% more peak torque. Remarkably, it achieves this while consuming less energy, thanks in part to a new drive unit, rear diffuser, and spoiler. The front and rear ends of the car have received a subtle facelift, distinguishing it from the other Model 3 variants. The interior remains largely unchanged, retaining the ambient light bar, improved sound dampening, upgraded materials, stalk-less steering wheel, and updated touchscreen display. Tesla’s introduction of the Model 3 Performance comes at a time when the company is facing one quarter with reduced deliveries. Following sweeping layoffs that affected over 10% of its global workforce, Tesla’s financial results are expected to be released after market closes on Tuesday. As of the time of publication, estimated delivery windows for orders placed in North America range from May to June 2024.
