Call of Duty: Warzone tournaments could become even more exciting in the near future, as a Season 3 leak has hinted at the return of additional customization options for pro players. Content creator Repullze has substantiated a leak that suggests custom duos and trios will be making a comeback during Season 3. Currently, players only have the ability to create custom lobbies for squads of four. The only way for pro players to participate in tournaments with different squad sizes is if the events are hosted by Activision. The rumored return of custom squad sizes will also reportedly include the option to utilize the match point format, which has recently skyrocketed in popularity. In 2023, major tournaments such as the WSOW employed a scoring system that awarded points for every elimination, with the total score being multiplied based on the team’s final placement in the match. In contrast, the match point format grants one point per elimination and a separate set of points based on placement. For instance, squads earn 15 points for securing first place or 10 points for finishing second. By eliminating the multiplier, fans can more easily track the number of points their favorite teams have accumulated. Once a team reaches 100 points, they must emerge victorious in an additional match to officially secure the win. This means that even if a team is the first to reach 100 points, other squads still have a chance to catch up until someone claims victory in the final match. This format encourages teams to adopt a more aggressive playstyle compared to the Solo Yolo format, where survival until the end is paramount. It is also far easier to follow than the standard scoring system. As for when players can expect these changes to go live, Season 3 Reloaded is anticipated to commence on May 1. Repullze did not provide a specific release date for the new features, but it would be logical for Raven Software to include them in the mid-season update.
