Grand Theft Auto V voice actor Steven Ogg has revealed that developer Rockstar Games had initially planned to create a story expansion centered around the character Trevor. Ogg, who played Trevor in the game, disclosed this information during a Questions and Answers session with Michael actor Ned Luke and Franklin actor Shawn Fonteno. According to Ogg, the expansion would have featured Trevor working undercover as an agent for the Federal Investigation Bureau (FBI). “Originally they were gonna do continuing stories of Michael, Franklin, and Trevor,” Luke said. Ogg further elaborated on the scrapped content: “We also had that really cool s
t of — and I forget if it was DLC, I have no idea — but where Trevor was gonna be undercover, he works for the FEDs,” Ogg said. “And we did shoot some of that stuff with James Bond Trevor. He’s still kind of a f
k up but he’s doing his best. And we shot some stuff and then it just disappeared and they never followed up on it.” Luke suggested that the expansion was canceled due to the immense success of GTA Online, which has retained its popularity since its launch over a decade ago. “They went to GTA Online I believe,” Luke said. However, the future of GTA Online is uncertain as Grand Theft Auto VI, and presumably the next iteration of the multiplayer mode, is anticipated to release in 2025. Rockstar Games unveiled a trailer in December 2023, showcasing their rendition of Vice City, inspired by Miami. The trailer included intricate details and references to real-life events. Despite being announced for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S with a 2025 release date, PC players were left disappointed by the omission of their platform. Notably, developers from Rockstar expressed frustration on social media regarding the premature leak of the trailer. The gaming community shared their disappointment, and several streamers faced content strikes and takedowns due to the leak. Nevertheless, the trailer surpassed Minecraft to become the second most-watched video game trailer of all time, garnering over 168 million views in the initial three months.
