Star-Studded Cast Announced for ‘The Thursday Murder Club’ Film

Renowned novelist Richard Osman has unveiled the eagerly anticipated cast for the film adaptation of his blockbuster novel, ‘The Thursday Murder Club’. The highly-acclaimed bestseller, published in April 2021, follows a group of residents in an idyllic English village who become amateur detectives, embarking on a mission to solve local murders. The novel’s success has since spawned a series of sequels.

Osman has shared that the character of Ron, an outspoken ex-union activist, will be portrayed by Irish actor and James Bond star Pierce Brosnan. The enigmatic Elizabeth, a former spy, will be played by the legendary Dame Helen Mirren. Osman made these announcements on his podcast, ‘The Rest Is Entertainment’, co-hosted with journalist Marina Hyde.

Further casting includes renowned actor Sir Ben Kingsley, who will take on the role of Ibrahim, a former psychiatrist. Negotiations are currently underway for the character of Joyce, a former nurse. Osman revealed that fans have frequently approached him on the streets, expressing their desire to see specific actors portray certain characters.

The film adaptation, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Chris Columbus, will commence filming in England from the end of June and continue through September. Columbus, known for his directorial work on beloved films such as ‘Home Alone’ and the ‘Harry Potter’ series, is currently refining the script.

Osman’s latest installment in ‘The Thursday Murder Club’ series, titled ‘The Last Devil To Die’, was released in September 2023 and has been met with critical acclaim. The anticipation for the film adaptation is soaring, with fans eagerly awaiting the on-screen chemistry between these iconic actors.
