James Buckley, the actor best known for his portrayal of Jay Cartwright in the hit comedy series The Inbetweeners, is set to reprise his role as Ben in the West End production of 2:22: A Ghost Story. The play, which made its West End debut in 2021, will return to the Gielgud Theatre for a seventh season, running from May 25 to August 4.
Buckley’s return to the stage marks a significant moment for the actor, who has previously expressed his doubts about the possibility of an Inbetweeners comeback. In an interview with the Daily Mail last September, Buckley explained that the characters would no longer be able to behave in the same way they did in the original show due to their age and life experiences.
Despite his reservations about an Inbetweeners revival, Buckley remains grateful for the opportunity to have played Jay Cartwright. He has credited the role with helping to launch his acting career and has expressed his admiration for the show’s creators, Damon Beasley and Iain Morris.
In addition to Buckley’s return, 2:22: A Ghost Story will also feature Stacey Dooley, who will make her West End debut as Jenny. Dooley is a renowned television presenter and documentary filmmaker, known for her work on BBC Three’s Stacey Dooley Investigates.
The rest of the cast for the seventh West End season of 2:22: A Ghost Story has yet to be announced. However, the production promises to be an exciting and suspenseful theatrical experience for audiences.
Tickets for 2:22: A Ghost Story are now on sale. Priority tickets are available for those who have signed up for the presale. General tickets will go on sale to the public on April 24, 2024.
