Cash Disappears After Woman Attempts to Deposit $2,220 into ATM

Woman Loses $2,220 After ATM Malfunctions During Cash Deposit

Most people use ATMs for quick and easy cash withdrawals, but some individuals, like restaurant servers or delivery drivers, often use them for deposits at the end of their shifts. However, one Middletown, Ohio woman’s recent experience may make you reconsider using ATMs for large cash deposits.

Colleen Curran recently visited her local Bank of America branch to make a deposit, something she had done numerous times before. This time, however, she had significantly more cash than usual – $2,220 in $100 bills.

As Curran inserted the cash into the ATM, she noticed it kept spinning without registering the deposit. The screen went blank, and there was no receipt or any indication that the transaction had been processed.

Curran contacted Bank of America, and a spokeswoman promised to investigate the matter. Shortly after, Curren was contacted by the bank, informing her that they had located her cash and would restore it in the next billing cycle.

This incident serves as a reminder that while ATMs are convenient for small cash deposits, it’s advisable to make large deposits inside the bank during business hours to avoid potential issues and ensure the safety of your money.
