New York-based TikTok star Eva Evans, known for her humorous videos about the dating scene and her life as a budding filmmaker, has died. The 29-year-old was found dead in her apartment on Saturday by a friend who had a key, law enforcement sources told The Post. The friend told police that they were unaware of any personal mental health struggles that Evans may have been facing. A law enforcement source also said that a note was found at the scene of Evans’ death. Evans was known for her viral videos about the New York dating scene and her life as a budding filmmaker. She had a large following on social media, with over 305,000 followers on TikTok and 28,000 on Instagram. Evans’ family released a statement expressing their grief and shock over her death. They said that she was a bright and talented young woman who will be deeply missed. “Yesterday my family received news that our sweet, fabulous, creative, caring, hilarious Eva, my beautiful sister, has died,” Evans’ sister wrote on Instagram on Monday. “After 24 hours, I still find myself in a constant cycle of denial and acceptance, so I know how unbelievable and hard to process this news will be.” The post ended with the news that the family would hold a celebration of her life on April 23. “I wish I had Eva here now to refer to because she would have better words and know how to say what I don’t,” she went on. “I am keeping this brief, so we can plan for the next few days, but you’ll be hearing a lot more from me on how much Eva means to me and just how different the world will be without her.” Evans’ final Instagram post was made on April 18, as she posed candidly on the New York subway. “Today, I discovered that there’s no Yankees emoji? I’ve heard people try to claim that NYC isn’t the centre of the universe before, but I just wasn’t expecting this. Do better ,” one said. Evans was also a rising star in the entertainment industry. She co-directed, co-wrote and starred in the Prime Video series Club Rat that follows an influencer navigating the chaotic New York dating scene after a humiliating breakup goes viral. Five episodes were released in 2023.
