Chiefs Re-Sign Linebacker Jack Cochrane

The Kansas City Chiefs have re-signed linebacker Jack Cochrane to a contract extension, the team announced Tuesday. Cochrane has been a key contributor on special teams for the Chiefs over the last two seasons, while also seeing some playing time on defense. He has appeared in 32 regular season games and all seven playoff games for the Chiefs since joining the team in 2022.

Cochrane had exclusive negotiating rights with the Chiefs after the team tendered him a contract offer earlier this year. Tuesday’s move officially marks Cochrane’s return to the roster for the 2023 season.

Cochrane appeared in all 17 regular season games for the Chiefs in 2023, primarily on special teams. He made one start on defense in Week 17 against the Denver Broncos. Cochrane finished the season with 18 tackles, including 10 solo tackles, and one pass defensed.

In the postseason, Cochrane appeared in all three of the Chiefs’ playoff games. He recorded one tackle in the Chiefs’ Divisional Round win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Cochrane is a valuable member of the Chiefs’ special teams unit and is expected to continue to play a key role in that area in 2023. He is also expected to compete for a more significant role on defense.
