BJP state president K Annamalai defended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent controversial speech made during an election campaign in Rajasthan. Annamalai shared an old video of former PM Manmohan Singh’s speech in 2006 and asked, ‘Why is the Congress and its ecosystem ranting? This is what they wanted in the past & this is what they said recently.’ The post included a video of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s speech made on April 6 this year. Annamalai asked, ‘Why did Rahul Gandhi choose to mute the word ‘Hindustan’s wealth’ in his livestream?’
In his campaign speech in Rajasthan on Sunday, Modi referred to Congress poll manifesto and said the national party, which promised the socio-economic census, has decided to take count of the wealth of the people and would distribute it to ‘people with more children and infiltrators’. Congress functionaries strongly refuted the claims of Modi and said both, the speeches of Manmohan Singh and Rahul Gandhi, and the manifesto, were wrongly interpreted.
Responding to criticisms of opposition parties, Annamalai posted on Twitter, ‘Our Hon PM Thiru @narendramodi avl only exposed the agenda of the I.N.D.I. Alliance.’ He asked, ‘Why is the Congress and its ecosystem ranting? This is what they wanted in the past & this is what they said recently.’
Annamalai also shared a video of Rahul Gandhi’s speech made on April 6 this year, in which Gandhi can be heard saying, ‘The wealth of Hindustan will be given to the people of Hindustan.’ However, Annamalai pointed out that Gandhi muted the word ‘Hindustan’s’ in his livestream.
Congress functionaries strongly refuted the claims of Modi and said both, the speeches of Manmohan Singh and Rahul Gandhi, and the manifesto, were wrongly interpreted.
The Congress manifesto promises a socio-economic census, but does not mention any plans to redistribute wealth. The party has said that the census is needed to identify and address economic disparities in the country.
The BJP has accused the Congress of planning to use the census to target Muslims and other minorities. The party has also claimed that the Congress is planning to use the census to create a database of Muslims in the country.
The Congress has denied these allegations and said that the BJP is trying to create a false narrative to divide the country.
