The Bombay High Court has finally brought an end to a decade-long legal dispute within the Dawoodi Bohra community. On Tuesday, the court dismissed Taher Fakhruddin’s challenge to the succession of Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin as the 53rd spiritual leader, or ‘Da’i-al-Mutlaq’, of the community. The legal battle has been a contentious one for the past ten years, with members of the community divided in their support for Fakhruddin and Saifuddin.
Members of the Dawoodi Bohra community have welcomed the court’s verdict, expressing that they had anticipated this outcome. The decision brings closure to a long and difficult chapter in the community’s history.
