PM attacks Congress over Sam Pitroda’s inheritance tax remark

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly criticized the Congress party for its leader Sam Pitroda’s proposal for an inheritance tax. Speaking at a rally in Uttar Pradesh, the Prime Minister accused the Congress of wanting to “loot people even after death.”

“The Congress believes that the money you earn belongs to them, not to you,” Modi said. “They want to tax your property, your savings, and even your children’s inheritance. This is nothing but daylight robbery.”

Pitroda, a close aide to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, had earlier suggested that an inheritance tax could help reduce wealth inequality in India. However, the Prime Minister dismissed this idea as “nonsense.”

“Wealth inequality is not a problem in India,” Modi said. “The problem is that the Congress party has been looting the country for decades. They have created a system where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.”

The Prime Minister’s attack on the Congress is the latest in a series of barbs that he has traded with the opposition party in recent weeks. The two sides have been locked in a bitter battle over a range of issues, including the economy, national security, and corruption.

The Congress has not yet responded to the Prime Minister’s latest attack. However, it is likely that the party will hit back with its own criticism of the government’s economic policies.
