While the exodus of individuals from Massachusetts presents significant economic challenges, it also creates opportunities for Latinos who choose to remain or join the state’s workforce. Latinos, constituting over 14 percent of the population, play crucial roles in industries like child care and skilled labor, which are essential to Massachusetts’ economic competitiveness. However, despite Latinos staying in Massachusetts at higher rates than White workers, they continue to face inequitable barriers that disproportionately affect their ability to sustain careers, operate successful businesses, make ends meet, and ultimately reside in the Commonwealth. To overcome these obstacles, it is imperative to unlock their potential by providing culturally relevant resources for economic mobility, recognizing the contributions of Latino entrepreneurs and leaders who are bridging these gaps and proving that success is attainable, and exploring and implementing a comprehensive range of solutions, particularly for those remaining in or coming to Massachusetts to pursue their American dream.
