Due to lower-than-anticipated demand, Apple is reportedly decreasing production of its Vision Pro virtual reality headsets. Apple analyst Ming Chi Kuo revealed that before the headset’s international debut, Apple cut production from 800,000 to 400,000 units. The demand for the $3,500 VR headset has significantly decreased. According to Kuo, Apple expects demand to decline further next year, leading the company to “review and adjust” its headset product roadmap, potentially developing a lower-priced mixed reality headset. He also asserts that Apple intends to launch the Vision Pro in new markets before the June Worldwide Developers Conference to increase demand. Despite the production cut, Kuo maintains that Apple is not altering product specifications or user experience. In a February report, Kuo predicted that significant updates to the Vision Pro would emerge in 2027. Given Apple’s history of setting trends in emerging product markets, the Vision Pro’s performance may influence the entire industry.
