Former WWE superstar Jinder Mahal has shared details of his major segment with The Rock, which took place during the RAW Day One edition earlier this year. The segment marked the beginning of The Rock’s latest run in WWE, and fans were excited to see the two stars interact.
Mahal, who was bashing the crowd during his entrance, was interrupted by The Rock, and the two stars had a 20-minute segment that was praised by fans. Mahal recently spoke about the segment on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, sharing how it was put together.
‘I met him at his hotel, and Brian Gewirtz was there. He wrote an awesome promo. When he sent it to me, I asked, ‘Can we say this? Yeah? Okay!’ – I guess for Rock, anything goes.’ He just said have fun. He was excited to work with me, and I was excited to work with him. He’s just a class act, The Rock is amazing.’
Mahal also revealed that they were allotted 20 minutes for the segment, which gave them plenty of time to develop the story and engage with the audience.
‘He gave me that moment, and Brian especially told me, ‘We’ve got time, don’t rush.’ Because I was short-changing myself, like, ‘Maybe I’ll walk and talk to the ring.’ He said, ‘No, no, no, enjoy it, have a full entrance, get some heat.’ We were allotted 20 minutes, which is amazing. It was an awesome experience.’
Following his release from WWE, Mahal is reportedly generating interest from independent promotions, including GCW. The promotion is said to be waiting for his 90-day non-compete clause to finish, which ends in July. It will be interesting to see what lies in Jinder Mahal’s future, whether he chooses to go to GCW or make a surprising move and join AEW.
Mahal and AEW star Matt Cardona have had a back-and-forth on Twitter earlier this year, adding to the speculation about a potential move to the rival promotion. Regardless of where Mahal ends up, he is sure to continue making a name for himself in the wrestling world.
