Twenty years after the release of the iconic film ’13 Going on 30,’ its beloved stars, Jennifer Garner, Mark Ruffalo, and Judy Greer, reunited for a special celebration. The trio took to Instagram to share a heartwarming video montage, reminiscing about their time on set and expressing their gratitude to the fans who have kept the film alive in their hearts.
In the video, Garner, Ruffalo, and Greer recalled the making of the movie, which was released in 2004 and directed by the late Gary Winick. They discussed the film’s enduring popularity, with Ruffalo quipping that he encounters equal amounts of ‘Hulk people’ and ’13 Going on 30 people,’ and adding, ‘Way more 13 Going on 30.’ Garner shared an anecdote about meeting a baby named Jenna after a recent screening of the film, while Greer expressed surprise at learning that future Marvel Cinematic Universe star Brie Larson had a small role in the movie.
The trio also attempted to recreate their famous ‘Thriller’ dance scene over Zoom, much to the delight of fans. Ruffalo expressed his gratitude to the fans, saying, ‘You’ve been the best fans of this movie that anyone can possibly have.’
’13 Going on 30′ has become a cultural touchstone, with notable fans including Ariana Grande, who paid tribute to the film in her music video for ‘Thank U, Next.’ The film’s enduring appeal lies in its relatable themes of friendship, love, and self-discovery, and its ability to transport viewers back to the innocence and optimism of their youth.
Garner and Ruffalo reunited onscreen in 2022’s ‘The Adam Project,’ and they performed their ‘Thriller’ dance earlier this year at Ruffalo’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, after Garner gave a speech honoring her work with him.
