Netflix’s ‘The Atypical Family’: Release Date, Cast, Trailer, and Plot Details

Netflix has unveiled exciting details about its upcoming K-drama, ‘The Atypical Family’, starring Jang Ki-yong. This highly anticipated series revolves around the Bok family, who possess extraordinary supernatural abilities. Bok Gwi-joo, played by Jang Ki-yong, can travel back in time, while his mother, Bok Man-heum, possesses the power of foresight. His sister, Dong-hee, can soar through the skies, and the youngest sibling, Bok Yi-na, remains without any apparent abilities. However, their powers start to dwindle due to the complexities of modern life, such as insomnia and smartphone addiction.

The family’s fortunes take an intriguing turn when Do Da-hae, portrayed by Chun Won-hee, enters their lives. Her presence sparks a glimmer of hope as they begin to believe she may be the key to restoring their lost abilities. Jang Ki-yong returns to the small screen with ‘The Atypical Family’ after completing his military service, marking his eagerly awaited television comeback.

Supporting the main cast are Ko Du-shim as Bok Man-heum, Claudia Kim as Dong-hee, and child actress Park So-yi as Yi-na. The series is set to premiere on South Korean cable network JTBC on May 4, with new episodes airing weekly on Saturdays and Sundays at 10:30pm KST. International viewers can catch ‘The Atypical Family’ on Netflix, with new episodes released simultaneously with JTBC’s broadcast schedule.
