Trevor DLC for GTA 5: Actor Confirms Filming But Reveals It Was Scrapped

Grand Theft Auto 5 has seen a plethora of updates since its inception, bolstering GTA Online with fresh content, quests, heists, and more. However, the base game has remained untouched, story-wise, since its 2013 debut. Whispers of abandoned plans for story expansions have surfaced in the past, and a recent leak from GTA 5’s database hinted at a scrapped story mode DLC revolving around Trevor, one of the game’s three protagonists. Now, the actor who brought Trevor to life in GTA 5 has confirmed that a Trevor DLC was indeed in the works and that some footage was even filmed.

In a Q&A stream featuring Steven Ogg, Ned Luke, and Shawn Fonteno, the actors who portrayed Trevor, Michael, and Franklin, respectively, shared insights into the planned story expansion. While Luke mentioned Rockstar’s initial intention to extend the narratives of the three career criminals, Ogg delved into specifics of a Trevor-centric DLC that was in development.

“I can’t recall if it was DLC, but Trevor was going undercover, working for the feds. We actually filmed some of that, with ‘James Bond Trevor’,” Ogg revealed during the stream. “We shot some stuff, but then it vanished, and they never pursued it.”

Ogg’s account aligns with the Trevor DLC details found in the leaked GTA 5 database file from November 2023, which included a string related to Trevor, suggesting a story mode expansion. Back in 2014, Rockstar teased “some very exciting Story Mode DLC and much more” in a newswire post, but the studio’s focus shifted towards GTA Online updates and the development of Red Dead Redemption 2, leading to the confirmation that GTA 5 would not receive a story-based expansion.

“…we did not believe single-player expansions were feasible or essential, but we might consider them for future projects,” Rockstar stated to Game Informer in 2017.

Rockstar Games has a history of delivering substantial story expansions for its previous titles. Grand Theft Auto 4 received two significant story additions: The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony, which introduced new protagonists, characters, and storylines that intertwined with the main game’s narrative.
