According to industry sources, Korean Air is currently in negotiations with Boeing regarding the potential purchase of at least ten Boeing 777X jetliners. This move suggests a possible shift back towards Boeing as Korean Air’s primary supplier after the airline recently placed a substantial order with Airbus, its European rival. The ongoing discussions between Korean Air and Boeing center around the acquisition of the 777X, an advanced variant of the 777 mini-jumbo already utilized by South Korea’s largest carrier. However, one industry source familiar with the matter cautions that Korean Air is still in continuous discussions with Boeing regarding potential orders but does not have immediate firm plans to acquire new 777s. Korean Air has declined to comment on the matter, while Boeing has directed all fleet-related inquiries to the airline.
