The Chicago Bulls are set to undergo some significant changes to their coaching staff next season, as veteran assistant coach Chris Fleming and former All-Star Maurice Cheeks will not be returning in their current roles.
Fleming, who joined the Bulls in 2019, is leaving the organization after four seasons. He previously served as an assistant coach with the Denver Nuggets and Brooklyn Nets.
Cheeks, who arrived in Chicago alongside head coach Billy Donovan in 2020, is expected to take on a different role within the organization. The former Trail Blazers, Sixers, and Pistons head coach has also worked as an assistant in Oklahoma City.
Meanwhile, second-row assistant John Bryant is set to join the main bench for the 2024-25 season. Josh Longstaff is among the candidates being considered for the role of lead assistant, although other candidates are also being evaluated.
These coaching changes come as the Bulls look to improve upon a disappointing 2022-23 season, in which they finished with a 46-36 record and were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. The Bulls have made several roster moves this offseason, including the acquisition of DeMar DeRozan and Lonzo Ball, and are hoping that a revamped coaching staff can help them take the next step in their development.
