A dispute between two young men escalated into a violent road rage incident that ended in a collision and stabbing on the Upper East Side. According to police, the two 28-year-old drivers became engaged in a heated argument while driving down a rain-swept street in Queens Tuesday evening. The dispute intensified as they pursued each other over the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge into Manhattan, repeatedly cutting each other off. The situation reached a peak when their vehicles collided at approximately 7 p.m.
Out of their vehicles, the altercation escalated further. One of the drivers, Antal Lakatos, allegedly retrieved a knife and stabbed the other man multiple times in the face and neck. The victim was rushed to New York-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell, where he is expected to make a full recovery.
Police officers arrived at the scene and took the suspect, Antal Lakatos, into custody. He faces assault charges and is awaiting arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court. The damaged yellow pick-up truck and black sedan involved in the incident remain at the scene as the investigation continues.
