Hannah Bullerman, a 25-year-old X-ray tech, had a simple Grubhub order: fried pickles, chicken wings, and applesauce. What she didn’t expect was to fall in love with her delivery driver, Alec Hoffman, 27.
As Bullerman anxiously awaited her food, she noticed Hoffman’s kind eyes and couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something special about him. When Hoffman arrived, she quickly grabbed her food and thanked him, but she couldn’t stop thinking about him.
Hesitantly, Bullerman sent Hoffman a text message expressing her interest in going on a date. To her surprise, Hoffman responded with equal enthusiasm. Their first date was a meal at a sports bar followed by bowling, where Hoffman playfully reminded Bullerman that he had won the game.
Bullerman and Hoffman, who were both working in the healthcare industry, quickly discovered a deep connection. Their love story took an unexpected turn when they appeared on “The Drew Barrymore Show” to share their story and received a gift of a honeymoon in Fiji from the show and a $5,000 contribution to their wedding budget from Grubhub.
As they prepare for their wedding on May 17, 2025, Bullerman and Hoffman encourage others to take risks and embrace the unexpected. “It was love at first sight for me,” Bullerman said. “Send that risky text, but don’t look too hard. I think people try too hard to find the right one,” Hoffman added. “At least in my case, the right one will come when you’re least expecting it.”
