A significant water main break has occurred on Pershing Avenue in Orangevale, leading to a hard traffic closure between Chestnut Avenue and Filbert Avenue. The incident took place early Wednesday morning, and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District crews responded to the scene around 6 a.m. Water flooded the roadway, reaching as far as a half mile from the break. No injuries or structural damage were reported. The California Highway Patrol is currently managing traffic, and it is unclear how long the roadway will remain closed while repairs are underway. The nearby Pershing Elementary School remained open as of 8 a.m. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
