NBA insider Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report has proposed a three-team trade involving the Philadelphia 76ers, Portland Trail Blazers, and Golden State Warriors. According to Pincus’s proposal, the Sixers would acquire Andrew Wiggins and $1.1 million from the Warriors, while the Blazers would receive Kevon Looney, the No. 16 pick, and two trade exceptions from Golden State. The Warriors, in turn, would obtain Malcolm Brogdon and Robert Williams III from Portland.
The deal, if executed, would be finalized on July 6, after the 2024-25 moratorium. This would allow the Warriors to avoid triggering a hard cap, which is projected at $178.7 million.
Wiggins, a key member of the Warriors’ 2022 NBA championship team, has struggled in recent seasons. He averaged 13.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists this season while shooting 45.3% from the field and 35.8% from three-point range. Looney, on the other hand, has been a consistent performer for Golden State, averaging 4.5 points and 5.7 rebounds this season.
Brogdon, acquired by Portland in a trade with Indiana last summer, averaged 15.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 5.5 assists this season. Williams III, a rising star in the league, averaged 6.8 points and 6.3 rebounds in limited action due to injury.
The Warriors and Blazers missed the playoffs this season, while the Sixers are currently trailing the New York Knicks 2-0 in the first round. With Wiggins’ struggles in recent years and the Warriors’ desire to shake things up, this proposed trade could potentially benefit all three teams involved.
