Another suspect brandished a long metal rod and began striking the victim’s car, while a third suspect repeatedly hit the driver’s side window and attempted to open the door. The victim managed to drive around the suspect vehicle and sped away, initiating a chase that eventually ended when the suspects turned off. The victim, unfamiliar with the area, stopped on University Avenue to contact the police despite being unable to provide precise details of the incident’s location or the streets taken during the chase. Police suspect the incident occurred in the Crescent Park neighborhood and may have extended into downtown Palo Alto. Authorities believe the victim was targeted for robbery or carjacking, as his vehicle sustained moderate damage from the multiple strikes with the metal rod.
