WhatsApp Rolls Out Passkey Support for iPhone Users

WhatsApp users on iPhones can now take advantage of passkey support, a feature that provides enhanced security by eliminating the need for traditional passwords. Passkey, developed by the FIDO Alliance and supported by major companies like Apple, Google, and Microsoft, enables users to log in using secure methods like facial recognition or biometrics. This eliminates the hassle of creating and typing passwords, making the login process easier and more secure. To enable passkey on your WhatsApp account, simply follow these steps:

1. Update WhatsApp to the latest version on the App Store.
2. Open WhatsApp and tap on the ‘Settings’ tab.
3. Select ‘Account’ and then tap on ‘Security’.
4. Under ‘Two-Step Verification’, tap on ‘Enable’.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your passkey.

Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, has confirmed that the passkey feature is currently rolling out to iPhone users and will be available to all users in the coming weeks. According to WhatsApp’s head of product, Alice Newton-Rex, passkey verification will enhance the security and convenience of logging back into WhatsApp. With the integration of passkeys, WhatsApp users can now benefit from a more secure and streamlined login experience on their iPhones.
