North Elm Avenue in Jackson to Close for Sinkhole Repairs
A major street in Jackson, Michigan, will be closed starting Thursday morning due to a sinkhole. North Elm Avenue between East Ganson and East North Street will be closed staring 7 a.m. April 25 for urgent street repair, according to a notice form the city of Jackson.
The Jackson Department of Public Works is closing the street so a sinkhole in the intersection of North Elm Avenue and Leroy Street can be safely repaired. The street will likely be reopened Friday morning, officials said.
The sinkhole area of the intersection is blocked from vehicles and pedestrians. The cause of the sinkhole will be determined when crews can close the street and start repairs.
Access to homes and businesses will be maintained through the closure. Motorists are advised to seek alternative rotes while the repairs are being made.
