The San Francisco Giants have placed left-hander Blake Snell on the 15-day injured list due to a left adductor strain. The two-time Cy Young Award winner has struggled this season, posting an 0-3 record with an 11.57 ERA in three starts.
Snell is yet to recapture the form that allowed him to secure his second Cy Young Award while pitching for the Tampa Bay Rays in 2023. He owns a 71-58 record with a 3.30 ERA in 194 career games (all starts) with the Rays, Padres, and Giants.
Right-hander Conner Menez has been recalled from Triple-A Sacramento to take Snell’s place on the active roster and will make his first start of the season Wednesday against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers.
Menez, 28, worked a scoreless inning of relief in San Francisco’s 5-2 win over the New York Mets on Monday.
The Giants are hoping that Menez can provide some stability to a rotation that has been plagued by injuries. Johnny Cueto is also on the injured list with a forearm strain, and Alex Cobb is day-to-day with a groin injury.
