Ropar Police Arrest Third Accomplice in Vishwa Hindu Parishad Leader Murder Case

The Ropar Police have arrested a third accomplice in the murder case of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Vikas Prabhakar, alias Vikas Bagga, of Nangal. Bagga was shot dead on April 13 at his shop in Nangal.

Ropar senior superintendent of police Gulneet Singh Khurana said that on April 13, Vikas Bagga, Nangal unit president of VHP, was killed by the two accused, following which a case under Sections of murder and Sections of 25/27-54-59 of Arms Act was registered. “During investigation, two assailants were arrested on April 16, and two weapons and a scooty used in crime was recovered from them”.

SSP Khurana said that acting on inputs, one more accused, identified as Gurpreet Ram, alias Gora, was arrested and a pistol and seven live cartridges have been recovered from him. “So far, three accused have been arrested, including the recently arrested Gurpreet. He was part of a terror module. Further investigation is going on in this case,” the SSP said.

The two accused earlier arrested in the case have been identified as Mandeep Kumar, alias Mangi, and Surinder Kumar, alias Rikka. Both are aged between 30 and 32 years, and hail from Saloh village of Nawanshahar.

Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav on April 16 had claimed that Mandeep and Surinder were members of a terror module backed by a Pakistan-based terrorist organisation.
