Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), in an effort to stimulate tourism, has revealed plans to add more flights to the northern regions of the country, specifically Chitral and Skardu. Starting May 18th, the national airline will initiate new services from Islamabad to Chitral, with two weekly flights connecting the two cities. Furthermore, PIA is introducing direct flights from Dubai to Skardu, beginning on April 29th, with flights operating on Fridays from Dubai and Sundays from Skardu. This move by PIA is part of a broader strategy to attract tourists from both domestic and international destinations to the captivating northern regions of Pakistan, renowned for their picturesque landscapes and rich cultural heritage. This announcement is a continuation of PIA’s previous efforts in 2022 to increase connectivity to the northern areas, allowing tourists to secure tickets in advance and capitalize on holiday opportunities. In addition, the airline is making preparations to relaunch flight operations to Europe, pending the lifting of the ban by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) next month. PIA reportedly intends to establish Paris as its hub for flights to Europe. The expansion of flight operations is anticipated to significantly enhance tourism in Pakistan’s northern regions, showcasing their breathtaking natural beauty and diverse cultural heritage to a wider audience.
