Telangana Chief Minister and TPCC President A Revanth Reddy has cautioned against the alleged Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) plan to eliminate reservations for Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Backward Classes (BCs). During a program held at the TPCC headquarters, Gandhi Bhavan, to release a chargesheet against the BJP government at the center, Reddy asserted that the party is conspiring to scrap all reservations. He warned voters that supporting the BJP would be tantamount to voting against their own interests. Reddy alleged that the BJP’s actions align with the agenda of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which will turn 100 years old in 2025. He claimed that if voted to power, the BJP will remove all reservations, as desired by the RSS.
In contrast, Reddy highlighted the Congress’s commitment to preserving and enhancing reservations. He pointed to Rahul Gandhi’s announcement to not only continue reservations but also conduct a population census of OBCs to ensure their fair share. AICC General Secretary Deepa Das Munshi emphasized the unity of Indian alliance partners with the common goal of safeguarding democracy and the constitution. Reddy’s remarks underscore the political divide over the issue of reservations, with the Congress positioning itself as the protector of marginalized communities’ rights.
