The NFL Draft’s first day has passed, but the excitement continues for the Houston Texans and Texas-related prospects who will be selected in the following rounds. On Friday, the Texans will utilize their second-round picks, the 42nd and 59th overall selections, and their third-round pick, the 86th overall selection. The Texans have a busy Day 3 in store, with six picks spread across rounds 4 through 7. These include the 123rd, 127th, 188th, 189th, 238th, and 247th overall picks.
Several Texas-connected prospects were selected on Day 1, adding to the anticipation for the remaining days. Xavier Worthy, a wide receiver from Texas, was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs with the 28th overall pick in the first round. Worthy, 20 years old, joins the Super Bowl champions after an impressive collegiate career with the Longhorns from 2020 to 2023. He holds the distinction of running the fastest 40-yard dash in NFL Combine history, clocking in at 4.21 seconds.
The Dallas Cowboys also selected a Texas-tied prospect, Oklahoma offensive tackle Tyler Guyton, with the 29th overall pick in the first round. Guyton, 22, previously played for TCU from 2020 to 2021 and hails from Manor, Texas. With Day 1 concluded, all eyes turn to Days 2 and 3 as the Houston Texans and Texas-affiliated prospects await their future in the NFL.
