Twins Sweep White Sox, Face Struggling Angels Next

The Minnesota Twins have put their slow start behind them, sweeping the Chicago White Sox in four games to improve to 11-9 on the season. The Twins, who won just seven of their first 20 games, will face another struggling team Friday night when they open a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim, Calif. The Angels have lost six of their past seven games and are five games below .500 at the 25-game mark in their schedule. Despite Mike Trout leading the majors with 10 homers, the Angels have struggled to find consistency on both sides of the ball. Trout has homered in each of the past two games, but the Angels have gone 1-1 in those contests. Bailey Ober (1-1, 4.91 ERA) will start for the Twins on Friday. Ober received a no-decision against Los Angeles on July 25, 2021, when he gave up two runs and three hits in 5 1/3 innings. Patrick Sandoval (1-3, 6.75 ERA) will start for the Angels. Sandoval lost to the Cincinnati Reds in his last turn on Saturday when he gave up seven runs and six hits over four-plus innings. The Twins will look to continue their hot hitting against Sandoval, who has a 2.95 ERA in three career starts against them. Manuel Margot is 3-for-7 against Sandoval, and Christian Vazquez has one homer.
