CLEAR, the secure identity company, is set to launch its acclaimed identity verification technology at Kahului Airport (OGG) in Maui tomorrow, aiming to enhance the security screening process there. The introduction of CLEAR at OGG is projected to create 33 new jobs and generate roughly $2.1 million annually for the local economy.
This expansion marks another step in the growth of CLEAR’s presence across the country, currently serving 57 airports with its opt-in CLEAR Plus membership and boasting over 20 million members. CLEAR Plus members can quickly and securely confirm their identity using biometric data, such as eye scans or fingerprints, which eliminates the need to present traditional ID forms. Following verification, a CLEAR Ambassador guides members through a dedicated lane straight to TSA physical security checkpoints, significantly reducing their wait time.
“The addition of CLEAR to our airport system, starting with Kahului Airport, will provide frequent travelers with an option to help make the security screening experience faster and more efficient,” said Ed Sniffen, director of the Hawaii Department of Transportation.
In the near future, CLEAR also plans to launch its technology at Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL).
“CLEAR is thrilled to be in Maui and bring frictionless, predictable travel to Maui residents. In addition to bringing jobs and investment to the Island, we are proud to continue our support of rebuilding efforts through the Hawai’i Community Foundation,” said CLEAR CEO Caryn Seidman Becker.
Furthermore, CLEAR has initiated a strategic partnership with Hawaiian Airlines, offering HawaiianMiles members discounted rates on CLEAR Plus memberships. As of tomorrow, HawaiianMiles members can enjoy reduced prices, with rates set at $149 for Pualani Platinum, Pualani Gold, and Premier Club members, and $179 for general HawaiianMiles members. Pualani Platinum members who have accumulated over 75,000 flight miles are eligible for a free annual membership.
CLEAR Plus services are available at 13 of Hawaiian Airlines’ 15 North American destinations.
“As Hawaii’s hometown carrier, we are pleased to partner with CLEAR to offer our loyal members preferential CLEAR Plus pricing to make their travel on Hawaiian Airlines even more effortless,” said Bryan Kapeckas, managing director of loyalty and travel products at Hawaiian Airlines.
“CLEAR is obsessed with the customer experience and excited to bring HawaiianMiles Members the predictability of CLEAR Plus,” said Kyle McLaughlin EVP of Aviation at CLEAR.
CLEAR Plus members can also add up to three additional people to their account at $99 per person. Children under 18 can accompany a CLEAR Plus member in the CLEAR Lane at no extra charge.
Beyond airport use, CLEAR members can use their verified identity for various services, such as hotel check-ins, medical appointments, car rentals, and attending sports events, all without additional verification steps.
