Bollywood actor and fitness influencer Sahil Khan was apprehended in Chhattisgarh on Sunday (April 28) for his suspected involvement in the Mahadev betting app case.
Sahil Khan was arrested in Chhattisgarh after evading authorities. Khan absconded after his anticipatory bail plea was denied by the court. He travelled nearly 1800 kms over four days before being arrested in Chhattisgarh.
According to reports, Khan travelled from Maharashtra to Goa, Hubballi in Karnataka, and Hyderabad in an attempt to avoid arrest. He adopted a low-profile guise, donning simple attire and covering his face with a scarf, but authorities managed to track his movements.
Khan was ultimately apprehended at Hotel Aaradhya International in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh. The police seized two mobile phones and cash. Khan was produced before the Shindewadi-Dadar court, where his lawyer claimed his innocence, stating, “He has been framed in the matter and been accused of promoting the app.”
The Mahadev Betting App case involves over 38 individuals, including Khan, with an estimated scam size of Rs 15,000 crore. The case was transferred to the Crime Branch’s cyber cell, leading to the formation of the SIT.
